Leandro Trossard Joins Besiktas from Arsenal

Leandro Trossard’s Arsenal chapter is over. The next one starts in Istanbul.

The 31-year-old Belgium international has completed a permanent move from Arsenal to Besiktas, sealing a transfer to the Turkish Super Lig side for a reported £15.3 million (RM84.3 million).

It draws a firm line under a brief but significant spell in north London. Trossard arrived at the Emirates from Brighton in January 2023, a mid-season signing who quickly proved more than just squad depth. Intelligent movement, sharp feet, goals in big moments – he became one of Mikel Arteta’s most adaptable attacking options.

Across all competitions, Trossard pulled on the Arsenal shirt 174 times, scoring 36 goals and supplying 34 assists. Those numbers tell part of the story; the timing of many of those contributions tells the rest. He regularly tilted tight games, drifting between the lines, dragging defenders out of shape, and giving Arteta the tactical flexibility he craves.

He leaves with a Premier League winner’s medal, part of the side that finally ended Arsenal’s long wait for the title last season, the club’s first in more than two decades. For a player who joined mid-project, he exits having helped deliver the piece of silverware that had eluded a generation.

Trossard also arrives in Turkey with the pedigree of a World Cup performer, having featured for Belgium at the 2026 tournament. For Besiktas, this is a statement signing: a proven top-flight winger, still sharp at 31, stepping into a league that suits technical, attack-minded players.

“Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Leo for his valued contribution to the club and wish him all the best for his future.”

The Premier League champions move on, reshaping again under Arteta. Trossard does the same, swapping the Emirates for the roar of Istanbul, and a new stage on which to test himself.
