Liverpool Eyeing Maghnes Akliouche Amid PSG Interest

Liverpool’s search for life after Mohamed Salah is gathering noise, but one name dominating the rumour mill is still drifting just out of reach.

Liverpool look at Akliouche – but PSG already ahead

Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche has been heavily linked with Anfield in recent days, with reports in England suggesting Liverpool have made an initial approach to the Ligue 1 club.

Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas claimed the Reds had checked on the 22-year-old’s availability, describing him as a target and noting that he is also on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar.

The story fits the wider picture. Liverpool have already spent around €40m on Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, yet the club made it clear back in March that Salah would be allowed to leave for a new challenge this summer. One winger in the door was never going to be the end of the rebuild.

RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande had emerged as an early priority, only for the player to favour a move to PSG. That battle looks all but lost.

And now Akliouche is shaping up as a familiar sequel.

Romano: PSG have agreement with Akliouche

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has moved to cool talk of Liverpool “hijacking” a deal for the France international, stressing that the power currently lies in Paris.

“There has been plenty of speculation about Liverpool hijacking the deal for Maghnes Akliouche but my information has not changed,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “If Liverpool make a move or enter the race, I will tell you.

“Right now, Paris Saint-Germain have an agreement with the player, Akliouche wants to join PSG and negotiations with Monaco are continuing.

“The deal is not yet completed club-to-club, so we have to remain careful because transfers can change quickly, as happened with Morgan Rogers.

“But as things stand, Paris Saint-Germain remain firmly in control of the situation and are working to finalise the transfer as soon as possible.”

So, Liverpool interest? Yes. Concrete move? Not yet. The player’s preference? Clear.

A “possibility, not a definite”

Inside Anfield, the tone is more measured than the frenzy outside.

The Athletic’s James Pearce, speaking on GiveMeSport’s Market Madness podcast, underlined that Akliouche is one of several options on the table rather than a locked-in target.

“They’ve certainly had some discussions about it,” Pearce said. “I was told yesterday that there had been an approach earlier on in the window for the Monaco right-winger, and he is just one of a number of targets being kind of assessed at the minute before they decide exactly what they’re going to do.

“So he would certainly be a cheaper alternative to Bradley Barcola if you couldn’t get the PSG man. I think you’d be looking at €50-60m for Akliouche. So yeah, he’s certainly one that I say is a possibility, rather than a kind of definite they’ll be making a move for him.”

That price bracket, sitting below the level required for Barcola, keeps Akliouche in play. But only if Liverpool decide to act – and only if PSG somehow leave the door ajar.

For now, the pattern is striking. Diomande leaning to Paris. Akliouche with an agreement in place with PSG. Liverpool circling, assessing, waiting for the right moment and the right man to step into Salah’s shadow.

The question is simple: in a market moving this fast, how long can they afford to wait?
