Yan Diomande Set to Join PSG Despite Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man City Interest

The Premier League’s heavyweights have made their move. The answer, for now, is the same every time.

Yan Diomande’s camp has fielded fresh approaches from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City over the past week, yet the message going back is blunt: the winger still intends to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The chase for one of Europe’s most coveted young forwards is not officially over, but those close to the talks are clear – Diomande’s preference has not shifted despite the late noise from England. PSG, European champions and increasingly ruthless in the market, are pushing hard to finish what they started.

Al-Khelaifi steps in to close the deal

Inside Paris, this is no routine transfer. Nasser Al-Khelaifi has personally taken control of negotiations with Red Bull as PSG work to finalise Diomande’s move from Leipzig in a blockbuster deal.

His long-standing relationship with Red Bull’s hierarchy has helped talks move with purpose. Figures involved in the discussions believe an agreement is edging closer, with Leipzig already having accepted internally that their Ivorian star is on course for Paris.

The German club did look at one compromise earlier this month: sell now, keep him on loan for another season. It would have softened the blow of losing a key asset and bought them time to reshape their attack.

Luis Enrique was having none of it.

The PSG head coach has been clear. He wants Diomande in his squad this summer, not in a year’s time, and has pushed for the deal to deliver immediate impact rather than a delayed arrival. PSG have aligned behind that stance and are ready to pay around €110million (£93.5m, $126m) to get it done.

Premier League giants make one last push

That kind of fee usually draws a crowd. This time is no different.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have all made contact in a late attempt to prise Diomande away from PSG’s grasp, with Liverpool the most persistent of the English contenders.

The Reds have tracked Diomande for some time and have kept open lines of communication with his representatives, hoping the situation might twist in their favour. Their strategy is simple: stay close, stay informed, and be ready to pounce if PSG’s move hits trouble.

So far, it hasn’t.

Arsenal have re-entered the picture after missing out on Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, a setback that caught them by surprise. Diomande had already been on their radar throughout the summer, and that failure has prompted renewed enquiries as they scramble for top-level attacking reinforcement.

Manchester City, too, have reaffirmed their interest. With Savinho expected to complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur, City are still in the market for another wide attacker and have made it clear they would move quickly if Diomande’s stance towards PSG changed.

It hasn’t. All three Premier League clubs have been told the same thing: his focus is on the Parc des Princes.

No auction, no games

Despite the flurry of calls from England, sources insist Red Bull are not using the Premier League interest to drive up the price. Negotiations with PSG are said to be running on their own track, unaffected by the late pressure from Arsenal, Liverpool and City.

That matters. This is not an auction; it is a high-end chase with one clear frontrunner.

Both PSG and Leipzig are also across a delicate subplot – Diomande’s recent change of representation. The switch of agents has brought fresh discussions around elements of his image rights, an increasingly complex part of any elite-level transfer.

Those talks are ongoing, but there is no suggestion at this stage that they will derail the move. The confidence from all sides remains intact.

Paris in sight

The deal is not signed. Not yet. There are still details to iron out, and Premier League clubs rarely walk away quietly when a talent of this calibre is within reach.

But as negotiations move into their final stretch, PSG look set to land one of the defining transfers of the summer. Luis Enrique wants Diomande in his dressing room next season. The board is prepared to pay. The player, crucially, is aligned.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have asked the question. Unless something dramatic changes, they already know the answer.
