Karim Adeyemi Awaits Camp Nou Unveiling

Karim Adeyemi will have to wait for his first big Camp Nou moment.

When FC Barcelona unveil a new signing, the script is usually clear: doors open at the stadium, fans flood in, and the player steps out onto the pitch to juggle the ball under the Catalan sun. Photos, chants, a first taste of the stage he’s been brought to conquer.

Not this time. Not yet.

Adeyemi, who completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Barça last week, is still waiting for that traditional presentation. The delay has nothing to do with paperwork or last-minute complications. It has everything to do with the World Cup final.

Spain’s 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina pulled the club’s top brass away from Barcelona. President Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco both travelled to attend the showpiece and, according to Mundo Deportivo, are not due back in the city until Tuesday.

Without them, there would be no grand unveiling.

The plan now is set: Adeyemi is scheduled to be presented to the media and the fans on Wednesday, 22 July, at the Catalan club’s stadium. Only then will he get the full Blaugrana welcome, the one that usually comes almost hand in hand with the signing announcement.

It was not supposed to unfold like this. Barça had initially aimed to wrap up the deal before the weekend so the 24-year-old could walk straight into training under new coach Hansi Flick. The idea was simple: sign, smile for the cameras, then get to work.

Instead, Adeyemi finds himself in a brief holding pattern, officially a Barcelona player but still waiting for that first roar from the stands. The cameras will come. So will the questions, the expectations, the comparisons.

On Wednesday, the Camp Nou spotlight finally turns his way. Then there will be no hiding place.
