Borussia Dortmund Target Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG
Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on one of Paris Saint-Germain’s brightest young attackers, with talks opened for 18-year-old winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Bundesliga club have made contact to explore the conditions of a potential deal, sounding out PSG over the teenager’s situation and availability. It is an early move, but a deliberate one: Dortmund know this is the stage of the market where the smartest clubs position themselves before an auction starts.
They are not alone in the queue. Mbaye has already drawn interest from the Premier League, with Aston Villa among the clubs tracking him. The appeal is obvious. At just 18, he has already collected 42 senior appearances for PSG, contributing four goals and four assists in a squad stacked with attacking talent.
Those numbers are not yet star-level, but they tell a story. Breaking into a side of PSG’s depth is difficult; staying involved long enough to rack up over 40 games as a teenager is a marker of trust from the club and of potential that bigger leagues are now circling.
The obstacle is clear as well. Mbaye’s contract in Paris runs until 2028, giving PSG a strong hand at the negotiating table. They are under no pressure to sell, and any club wanting to prise him away will have to pay for both his current impact and the upside of what he might become.
Dortmund, though, have built a reputation on exactly this type of move: identify a gifted young attacker, give him minutes, and watch his value explode. Villa, backed by an ambitious project of their own, can offer the pull of the Premier League and a rapidly rising team.
For now, it is only contact, only conversations. But when clubs of this profile start circling an 18-year-old winger with 42 PSG appearances behind him and four years left on his deal, it usually means one thing: a battle for his signature is coming.
