Alex Scott's Future at Manchester United: Contract Situation and Transfer Implications

Alex Scott has nudged the door further open for Manchester United.

The Bournemouth midfielder has turned down a new contract at the Vitality Stadium, a move that sharpens the focus on his future and hands United a timely boost in their search for another central option.

Scott, 22, is under contract with the Cherries until 2028, which leaves Bournemouth in a strong position on paper. They have tried to strengthen that grip with fresh terms, but, according to Sky Sports, the player’s camp has rejected the latest offer. For a club trying to build under Andoni Iraola, that’s a clear warning sign.

United, meanwhile, are rebuilding their midfield with intent. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have already walked through the doors at Old Trafford, and Michael Carrick wants a third piece to complete his new engine room. Scott is high on that list. AS Roma’s Manu Kone is another serious candidate.

The market around them is crowded but oddly favourable. Arsenal have tracked both Scott and Kone, yet their gaze is locked more firmly on Bruno Guimaraes. If the Gunners push hardest for the Newcastle man, United could find the path clearing for one of their preferred targets, especially with several top clubs open to big summer moves.

Tchouameni is now expected to commit to a new deal at Real Madrid, which only increases the appeal of Kone for clubs who missed out on the Madrid man.

Old Trafford’s recruitment radar remains busy. Tyler Adams, Scott’s Bournemouth team-mate, has also been linked with a move to United, though interest in Brighton’s Carlos Baleba has cooled. The midfield picture is crowded with names, but Scott’s contract stance makes him one of the most attainable high-end options.

Up the pitch, the plotting continues. United are assessing potential attacking additions, with Crysencio Summerville and Iliman Ndiaye both on the list. Any serious push is paused for now. Marcus Rashford’s situation is central to what happens next.

The 28-year-old is set to be reintegrated into the squad after loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona.
