Real Madrid Set to Break Transfer Record for Olise
Florentino Pérez has never been one to tiptoe through a transfer window. Fresh from securing another term as Real Madrid president, he is reportedly preparing to mark his re-election in the most Florentino way possible – with a Galáctico.
Madrid circle Olise – and a world-record fee
The name at the top of Madrid’s list is Michael Olise. Bayern Munich insist the Frenchman is not for sale, but that has rarely deterred Pérez in the past.
According to Látigo Serrano, Madrid are ready to open the bidding at around €180m (£155m). That alone would be seismic. The message from the Bernabéu hierarchy, though, is that they are prepared to go even higher and eclipse the current world-record fee of €222m if that is what it takes.
It would be a statement as much as a signing: the European champions raiding one of the continent’s heavyweights for one of the game’s most coveted wide forwards, and doing it at a price that would redraw the market all over again.
Gyokeres going nowhere – but Martinelli’s future in doubt
One striker who will not be part of Madrid’s summer is Viktor Gyokeres. The Sweden international has been dragged into the rumour mill as a possible piece in a complex chain: a move to Atletico Madrid, potentially greasing the wheels for Arsenal to push for Julian Alvarez.
Gyokeres hit 21 goals in his debut season in North London, a return that instantly made him central to Arsenal’s attacking plans. The idea he could be reduced to a makeweight has always felt far-fetched, and Caught Offside have now moved to shut down talk of such a deal.
The more intriguing uncertainty at Arsenal surrounds Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian winger is, according to The Times, weighing up his future at the Emirates just as the club step up their pursuit of a new left winger.
That tension is obvious. Arsenal are prioritising reinforcements in Martinelli’s zone of the pitch, and he is heading into the final 12 months of his current deal. Either the club recommit to him with a new contract and a clear role, or the door opens to a departure that would have been unthinkable not long ago.
United prepare for a goalkeeping reset
Up in Manchester, United are bracing for a different kind of overhaul. The club are planning a major clear-out in the goalkeeping department, with Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitik all facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.
Onana arrived to be the long-term No 1. Bayindir was brought in as cover. Vitik is the younger option attracting interest from elsewhere. Now all three could be on the move in the same window, a rare and radical reset in such a specialist position.
Vitik, in particular, has no shortage of admirers. Newly promoted Hull, Coventry and Ipswich are all chasing the keeper as they look to strengthen for life in the top flight. For United, it raises a blunt question: who actually starts in goal when the new season kicks off?
Bowen on Villa’s radar after West Ham’s fall
Aston Villa, fresh from punching their ticket to the Champions League, are thinking bigger. Unai Emery’s side want depth, quality and goals to cope with the demands of Europe’s elite competition, and Jarrod Bowen fits that profile perfectly.
Bowen, West Ham’s captain, now finds himself staring at the Championship after the club’s relegation. Sky Sports report that Villa are weighing up a move that would haul him straight back into the glare of top-tier European nights.
West Ham, though, will not let him go cheaply. The Irons are seeking around £50m for their talisman, a fee that reflects his importance and his output in claret and blue.
So the summer shapes up like this: Madrid ready to detonate the market for Olise, Arsenal juggling big calls on Martinelli and Gyokeres, United ripping up their goalkeeping plan, and Villa eyeing Bowen as the face of their Champions League push.
The money, as always, will talk. The question is which clubs are prepared to shout the loudest.
