Arsenal Targets Vinícius Júnior or Barcola for Transfer

Transfer season is back in full swing, loud, gaudy and impossible to ignore – and Arsenal are right in the middle of it.

Arsenal aim for a superstar on the flank

Premier League champions Arsenal are not shopping in the bargain aisle. They are scouring the very top shelf, weighing up a move for either Vinícius Júnior or Bradley Barcola as a luxury replacement for Leandro Trossard.

The scale of that ambition is obvious. Vinícius is a cornerstone at Real Madrid, a face of the club and a symbol of their post‑Cristiano Ronaldo era. One major obstacle stands in Arsenal’s way: the Brazilian’s current preference is to stay at the Bernabéu.

Barcola, meanwhile, is the other name in bold ink on their list, but Arsenal are not alone there. Liverpool are currently seen as frontrunners for the Paris Saint‑Germain winger – if they can find the £145m PSG are said to want for a player who is, remarkably, only their fourth-choice forward.

The equation could change in Madrid. The Spanish giants are closing in on a deal for Ivorian World Cup breakout Yan Diomande, a move that could crowd their attacking options even further. Perennial prospect Endrick is also being linked with a summer exit, hinting at a reshaping of the forward line that might, eventually, open a door for Vinícius to consider leaving.

Saudi money circles the wings

The scramble for wide players does not stop there. Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye has drawn serious interest from Al‑Hilal, another sign that the Saudi Pro League has no intention of easing off its recruitment drive.

Pedro Neto is also heading towards the centre of a tug-of-war. Several Saudi clubs have joined Liverpool and Manchester City in monitoring the winger’s situation. The big unknown is why Chelsea would even contemplate cashing in on such a talent. The answer, as ever at Stamford Bridge, lies in the balance sheet.

After a £117m outlay on Morgan Rogers, Chelsea’s need to bring money in is pressing. That financial reality could tempt them into a sale that would instantly alert every elite club in Europe.

At City, there could be movement on the flanks as well. Savinho, the largely forgotten wide man on their books, has emerged as a target for Tottenham. His departure would clear space in Pep Guardiola’s squad for any fresh attacking arrival at the Etihad.

United look central, not wide

While others load up on wingers, Manchester United are focusing their energy through the middle. The club are prioritising a centre forward rather than joining the chaos out wide.

Joshua Zirzkee sits at the heart of that story. If the Dutch striker moves on this summer – with Juventus pushing to sign him – United already have a possible replacement in mind: Ollie Watkins. The England forward turns 31 before the year is out, but his profile and Premier League pedigree keep him firmly in the frame.

There could also be movement at left-back. Young defender Harry Amass may head to Coventry, either permanently or on loan. That potential exit has stirred excitement among some United supporters, who see it as a possible prelude to the arrival of Lewis Hall.

Palhinha caught in the middle

João Palhinha’s future remains one of the more intriguing subplots of the window. Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has been clear about his intention to trim the club’s squad, a stance that would ease Palhinha’s path to Aston Villa.

The midfielder, though, would rather stay where he is. His preference is continuity, not another change of scenery.

His track record suggests that preferences can shift. Palhinha previously stated he wanted to extend his loan at Spurs before that chapter closed. Now Marco Silva, who managed him at Fulham, is pushing to bring him to Benfica on loan.

From Arsenal’s pursuit of a marquee winger to the quiet manoeuvres around Palhinha, the market is crackling again. The only certainty is that someone, somewhere, is about to make a move that changes the shape of the season.
