Eight of the twelve teams playing on June 25 were striving to secure qualification. This year’s tournament features three routes into the knockout phase: finishing first or second in the group, or being among the top eight third-place teams for the first time in World Cup history.

Thursday’s schedule started with two games at 4 p.m. ET: Ivory Coast vs. Curacao at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, and Germany vs. Ecuador at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Later, Sweden vs. Japan took place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, followed by Netherlands vs. Tunisia at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City at 7 p.m. ET. The night closed with Australia vs. Paraguay at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, and USA vs. Turkey at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

Teams like Ivory Coast, Curacao, Ecuador, Sweden, Japan, Netherlands, Australia, and Paraguay were fighting for final positioning. Germany and the USA had already clinched their groups, while Tunisia and Turkey were eliminated.
