Dominik Szoboszlai Signs Long-Term Deal with Liverpool
Liverpool have moved to lock down one of their modern centrepieces, with Dominik Szoboszlai signing a new long-term contract that is expected to run until the end of the 2030/31 season.
The club have not disclosed the exact length, but the deal is widely reported to be a five-year extension, a clear statement that the Reds see their number eight as a pillar of the next era at Anfield.
For Szoboszlai, 25, the moment carried genuine weight.
“It’s maybe my biggest day,” he said, placing the contract among the defining milestones of his life. Only his original move to Liverpool and the birth of his child, he admitted, stand ahead of it. “Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times.”
From promising signing to central figure
Szoboszlai arrived from RB Leipzig three years ago with a reputation for power, precision and personality. He has since grown from an exciting acquisition into one of Liverpool’s most influential performers.
That status hardened during a bruising 2025/26 campaign for the club. While the season fell short of expectations collectively, the Hungarian midfielder drove standards on the pitch, emerging as a rare constant in a side searching for rhythm.
He finished the year with 13 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions, numbers that underline both his end product and his importance in the final third. The club’s supporters and staff recognised it, too: Szoboszlai was named Liverpool’s Men’s Player of the Year.
A contract that carries weight
This renewal is not just a reward for past performances. It is a bet on the player who kept delivering when the season frayed around him, a midfielder whose blend of work-rate, creativity and leadership now runs through the spine of the team.
Liverpool have tied down a footballer entering his prime years. Szoboszlai has tied himself to the club where he believes his career can scale its highest peak.
He has already made it clear how he feels. Now the contract matches the ambition.
