Copa del Rave: A Unique World Cup Experience in Los Angeles
Copa del Rave has spent the past five years as one of Los Angeles’ most distinctive mash‑ups of football culture and club energy. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it’s kicking into a far bigger arena.
As the tournament stretches across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada from June, Copa del Rave will run a full World Cup residency inside two downtown LA heavyweights: Academy and Exchange L.A. These won’t be simple watch parties with a screen in the corner. They’re building full match‑day club nights around the schedule.
Each date mirrors the day’s fixtures. DJs, labels and party crews step in as stand‑ins for the nations on the pitch: Claude VonStroke will fly the flag for Team USA, while Reggaeton Rave, Gasolina and Bolo’s Vibraza Records bring the heat for Mexico. Blaq Pages and Afrobeats To The World lead the charge for the African diaspora. When the whistle goes, the sound systems don’t stop. Dancefloors will be open before kick‑off and stay lit long after full-time.
Entry is free with RSVP, with paid VIP tables for those who want a more elevated setup. Across the residency, Copa del Rave sticks to the ethos that’s defined it since 2019: party with a purpose.
The tournament has already raised more than $75,000 for charities over the years. This World Cup edition will channel proceeds to Common Goal, the collective initiative that uses football to create more opportunities for kids to play. For co-founders Alastair Duncan and Jonathan McDonald, aligning their project with the sport’s biggest stage on home soil marks a milestone as much as a celebration.
They see a rare alignment: global dance music and DJ culture, a city built on nightlife, and the World Cup landing in their backyard.
While Copa del Rave turns LA’s clubs into match‑day terraces, the wider World Cup show is swelling too. Stars from across the pop spectrum are stepping into the frame, with Madonna, Shakira and BTS locked in as headliners for the FIFA World Cup halftime show at MetLife Stadium on July 19. It will be the first halftime show in World Cup history, another sign that this tournament is pushing beyond the touchline and deep into entertainment territory.
Football will supply the drama. Copa del Rave plans to supply the soundtrack.
